I’m trying something new. And you can join me.
Writing about the five women who make up the Readaholics book club in my new mystery series has inspired me to start a book club. It’s been seven or eight years since I participated in a book club, and I’m ready to be part of one again.
Inaugural Meeting
This time, though, the book club is virtual. Instead of meeting in people’s homes, we’re going to meet on my Facebook page. We’re starting next week, 1 August, and the first book we’re reading is Fer de Lance, the first Nero Wolfe mystery by Rex Stout. Several Nero Wolfe experts/rabid fans have agreed to start us off each day for a week starting 1 Aug with questions for discussion.
Join the Conversation
I hope you’ll join us . . . and tell your friends. If you’ve read any Nero Wolfe books, I’m sure you’ll have something to contribute to the conversation. Even if you haven’t, drop by and get a great introduction to one of the most renowned investigating duos in mystery history, Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin. Comment for a chance to win Readaholics t-shirts and copies of The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco. You can also vote on what book we should read next.
If we were doing this in person, I’d serve munchies and margaritas (the Readaholics’ beverage of choice for book discussions). Since I can’t do that, I invite you all to sip your favorite beverage–maybe post a photo of it on my FB page?–and be part of this new book club experiment. I look forward to chatting with y’all about Fer de Lance starting this Saturday!
I love Nero Wolfe and Archie joining you.
We’d love to have you join us, Deb. Come talk about Nero and Archie on my FB page!
Is the virtual mystery book club still happening? I might be interested in joining.
You bet, Leya! You’re in luck–our next discussion starts this Tues, Dec 1. We’re talking about The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler. Drop by my FB page and join the discussion (or just lurk). 🙂
